Judas Iscariot

Interesting news this week with the announced translation of the Coptic Gospel of Judas Iscariot.
I have a link to some of the text. I don't know if its the whole text or not, but its here:
http://www.tertullian.org/rpearse/manuscripts/gospel_of_Judas/

A couple of things that stand out:
1) the cosmology Jesus describes to Judas is similar to that of the Cathar Gospel
(The Cathars being the Heretics for whom the Inquisition was established and who were final exterminated at Montsegur in 1244 and who were thought to guard the Holy Grail and play an key role in both the books Holy Blood, Holy Grail and the Da Vinci Code.)
A copy of the Cathar Gospel is here:

2) Jesus refers to Judas as the THIRTEENTH apostle. HMMM...
There has always been confusion over the number and names of the Apostles.
Who were the twelve if Judas makes thirteen?

3) Ironic, isn't it, how the text is translated and released just as the new movie based on Dan Brown's book is soon to be released and the subject is much in the news.
Good marketing? Hmmm

I have some more complex thoughts about the whole thing, but another time perhaps....
