More on Judas

I was browsing the web today and found a lot of opinions about poor old Judas.
Many a good Christian feels the whole thing is hooey. Many a good doubters think the text is a revelation. Me? I' m digesting. I started an intense study into the Magdalene heresy a couple of years ago, partly out of curiosity, partly as a way of coming to terms with my own beliefs.
The Magdalene heresy is the idea that she was Jesus's wife and their offspring are the royal bloodlines of Europe. Thousands of words, pages, and Internet hours later I've come to the conclusion that there is no absolute proof one way or the other. The only thing I can say with certainty is that somewhere along the way Christianity got something wrong. The Message gets too confused. Something major occurred around the time the Gnostic texts were booted from mainstream Christianity, and whatever that was an an enormous effect on medieval Europe.
I believe the Cathars practiced a brand of Christianity closer to what Magdalene and a few other followers of Christ taught, but which was markedly different then "true" Christianity.
I think that Magdalene's presence in France, and whatever effect her teachings in the region had contributed to the Cathar's theology but that in the time from her death to the 1100 or 1200's the message, like all information over time got confused. Just as I believe the message of
Christianity today is confused. The fact that the Gospel of Judas seems to connect in somehow (in my opinion) to the ideas of the Cathars is interesting. It intrigues me and leaves my thirsty for more. It is my heart felt belief that Humankind is headed down a very disastrous path, and part of the reason is what I feel is a broken message of the world's major religions.
One aspect of Gnosticism I think is needed today is the idea of male/female balance and intergration. I think Magdalene once represented the Goddess in Christianity. I think
replacing the Sister/Lover/Whore/Mother with only the Virgin Mother concept has greatly
twisted our collective culturally psyche. When sex is seen as more criminal then violent images of war and death, something is wrong. We need the male/female balance to remind us what it means to be Human. We are first primates, second sexual creatures, third flawed, but gifted entities. I don't think Christianity alone is to blame either. The Sister/Lover/Whore/Mother figure has been erased form Islam and Judaism as well, if it ever existed there in the first place.
The Agnostic in me asks the World:

Are we truly better off since the Origin of the monotheistic God?

The Pious believer in me asks:

Is there no greater proof of God's grace then the touch of your True Love's kisses on eager skin?

Food for thought brought to you by a flawed entity....

Judas Iscariot

Interesting news this week with the announced translation of the Coptic Gospel of Judas Iscariot.
I have a link to some of the text. I don't know if its the whole text or not, but its here:
http://www.tertullian.org/rpearse/manuscripts/gospel_of_Judas/

A couple of things that stand out:
1) the cosmology Jesus describes to Judas is similar to that of the Cathar Gospel
(The Cathars being the Heretics for whom the Inquisition was established and who were final exterminated at Montsegur in 1244 and who were thought to guard the Holy Grail and play an key role in both the books Holy Blood, Holy Grail and the Da Vinci Code.)
A copy of the Cathar Gospel is here:
http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/source/cathar-gospel.html

2) Jesus refers to Judas as the THIRTEENTH apostle. HMMM...
There has always been confusion over the number and names of the Apostles.
Who were the twelve if Judas makes thirteen?

3) Ironic, isn't it, how the text is translated and released just as the new movie based on Dan Brown's book is soon to be released and the subject is much in the news.
Good marketing? Hmmm

I have some more complex thoughts about the whole thing, but another time perhaps....

A New Poem

Only a kiss, nothing more

Only a kiss, symbol of what might have been

Lips embracing, passions brewing but never enflamed

One moment out of Eternity

A taste of what might never be.

Only a kiss, nothing more.

The smell of her, the taste of her breath

Her arms holding me tight.

Only one kiss, but a life time of desire

Love

Passion

Warmth

Happiness

Smiles

Desire

Hope

These words describe My Dream

My Goddess

My Love, passed by

Only a kiss, nothing more

Just one moment, one minute out of an Eternity Lost

Only one kiss

A kiss with a taste so sweet

All other kisses seem bitter…

Only a kiss, nothing more…….

I'm baaaccckkkk!!

Its been awhile since I posted, and though no one reads this, my apologies anyway.

My brain needs to rant and there's plenty to rant about. Everything from Bush authorizing leaks he claimed he would never rest until he found the source of, to immigration debates and intelligent design. Everyday the world just pisses me off a wee bit more!!

Plus my creative juices are flowing and I have that irresistible urge to write fiction and poetry again.

I'll be back later when I have more time and the kids aren't screaming!
